Our network chair, Prof Bindi Brook, will be joined by international group of researchers who will deliver short talks to introduce a new community to opportunities biophysical modelling presents to respiratory care.

Details of the session are below:

Session Title: Respiratory medicine in the silicon era: using data-driven biophysical models of the lung to improve patient diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment

  • An Introduction to biophysical modelling for respiratory medicine Prof Bindi Brook, University of Nottingham

  • Digital humans to harmonize clinical data and predict patient-specific treatment outcomes Prof Merryn Tawhai, University of Auckland

  • Using in silico clinical trials to test mechanical ventilation strategies in ARDS Prof Ewan Goligher
